CUTTING TO THE CHASE

Sydney Morning Herald

Wednesday March 2, 2011

The hairstyle of the Premier, Kristina Keneally, is one of the signature images of the state election campaign. So what better place to take the temperature of the electorate than with the hairdressers and barbers of Sydney.Today we visit Kazsue Hair Design*, Pagewood in Ms Keneally‚„s seat of HeffronTRACIE DUCKDoesn‚„t take an interest in the election.LIDIA PROTULIPAC, 35,Botany. Doesn‚„t know which party she will vote for. I‚„m not really into politics. They all just lie about everything. Schools, tranport and hospitals are important to me. I was four months‚„ pregnant and had a chest infection and had to wait in emergency for four hours before I saw someone. Every druggie and drunk was coming in and going ahead of me. The cost of living is terrible too. I‚„ll go to the supermarket and easily spend $300 and that‚„s not even including nappies and detergent and things like that.ROWAN EASTERBROOK, 50,Baulkham Hills. Will vote Liberal. There‚„s too much infighting and too many special deals. There‚„s no trust any more. Barry O‚„Farrell is probably going to get in just because people don‚„t trust Labor. It‚„s almost a matterof choosing the least worse. You‚„re more just hoping for the best. I was particularly unimpressed by the power sell-off. I think that Labor has just been in for so long that they‚„ve become complacent. There might be a bit of freshness with a new party. BELINDA ROWLAND, 37,Maroubra. Will probably vote Liberal. They‚„re all full of broken promises. I think Kristina Keneally came in at a hard time. She had a lot to fix but the fact she did what she did with the power privatisation wasn‚„t a good thing. It‚„s never worked in any other country. Labor has been in for 16 years and the schools and transport and hospitals are still in pretty bad shape. Liberal can‚„t be any worse so I say give ‚œem a go.KATRINA MANEROS, 27,Miranda Is not sure how she will vote.I don‚„t like that the electricity rebate only goes to families. That annoys me. I live with my husband and we don‚„t have any kids so we don‚„t get the rebate. I don‚„t like any of them at the moment. I prefer Kristina Keneally as a person but not as a party.*THIS IS NOT THE SALON RESPONSIBLE FOR MISS KENEALLY‚„S COIFFURE
