All about Hair Extensions

The key to fabulous hair of today is the clever use of hair extensions – instantly! It is carefully done and blended to match exactly with the original hair. It offers immediate action to those who are in dire need to beautiful hair after a disastrous haircut, bleaching, or whatever.

Extensions

The word ‘extensions’ obviously came from the word ‘extends,’ that means to add or to increase in length. Same goes with hair extensions, the addition of hair or hair replacement for a number of reasons. The most common reason is to achieve that long, thick, curly or straight hair. Some would also want added highlights or lowlights without even changing the color of their hair. All in all, hair extensions aim is to give beautiful hair – in volume, length and color.

Hair

The ‘hair’ added or replaced may be artificial or human hair. Artificial is basically a type of plastic while human hair is all protein in which hair is more natural looking and easier to manage. Also, human hair can come from different parts of the world, with cuticle or not. Hair from different countries can vary considerably – texture and thickness of each strand.

Technique

There are many techniques used for adding hair extensions. Such as: braiding, weaving, sewing, tying, gluing, double fusion and the latest technique, ‘LOC-ins,’ which are suitable for any kind of hair as some techniques may still cause a slip-out. But then again, whatever technique is being used, it is all about how well it’s done.

Maintenance

Caring for hair extensions is different from caring for natural air. Here is list of the things that you should need to know:

•    Oil is a no no! So be careful on what you put on your hair, as some conditioners or ay silicone based products can cause the extensions to slip-out.

•    Maintenance needs and should be done on the standard of one time a month or a total redo about every three months.

The LOC-ins Technique

This technique is the most advisable, as it does not involve any type of chemical, heating, sewing or braiding to damage your hair, thus allows damage hair to grow beautifully. This method only connects a copper tube to a small section of the hair near the scalp and is filled with an extension of tiny strands. The copper tube is locked around the extension by pressing or crimping four to five times. There is no adhesive or any process of heating used in this method. It might be time consuming but it’s the best way and safest way when having hair extensions.

Moreover, LOC-ins technique is better than the others. Why?

•    It’s the gentlest on the hair

•    No heating, no twisting and turning and no gluing/adhesive so it doesn’t harm your own hair

•    Easier to apply and take down with any type of hair

•    Natural looking

•    No pain

Coloring

When you decide to color you hair while you have hair extensions, it requires a complete take down. But with LOC-ins, bleach and tint is no biggie.

Price

It’s all relative really. Some can charge you for a few hundred dollars, and some can charge you thousands. But when it comes to hair, you wouldn’t want to be cheap on it as it is always best to have the best type of hair extensions and the technique for a longer lasting, manageable and beautiful hair.

Tip: Keep in mind, that if you want the perfect hair extensions, it all depends on the type of extensions, the hair being used and the person doing it.
